MasterTech — Privacy Policy
MasterTech ("we", "us") is a field diagnostic and workflow app for professional HVAC technicians and contractors. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
1. Information we collect
- Account & profile: name, email address, role (technician or contractor admin), your company/organization, and — for technicians — self-reported certifications, specialties, years of experience, and a home-base city you enter. Optional profile photo.
- Work data you create: work orders, guided-diagnostic sessions (equipment type, symptoms, and the readings you enter), refrigerant logs, and preventive-maintenance checklists.
- Equipment photos: photos you choose to take or attach (e.g. an equipment nameplate or gauge) to a diagnostic session or work order. Camera and photo-library access are used only when you initiate a photo, and only for this purpose.
- Diagnostic AI content: the equipment context, symptoms, and readings from a session are sent to our AI diagnostic engine to generate the next diagnostic step (see "Third parties"). We do not send your name, email, or contact details to the AI engine.
- Technical: basic app/diagnostic logs needed to operate and secure the service. We do not collect your device location, and the app contains no advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.
2. How we use it
- To provide the app's core features: authentication, guided diagnostics, work orders, tools, and the contractor dashboard.
- To let contractor administrators manage their own organization's roster and work records.
- To generate AI-assisted diagnostic guidance from the readings you enter.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
3. Third parties (subprocessors)
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage in the United States. See supabase.com/privacy.
- Anthropic — powers the AI diagnostic engine. Diagnostic context (equipment, symptoms, readings) is processed to return a diagnostic response; it is not used to train third-party models. See anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, if you choose it, and TestFlight/App Store distribution.
We share personal information only with these providers as needed to run the service, never for their own marketing.
4. Data sharing within your organization
MasterTech is multi-tenant. If you join a contractor's organization, that organization's administrator can see work records and roster information associated with your account within that organization. Credentials you enter are labeled "self-reported" and are not verified by us.
5. Retention
We keep your account and work data while your account is active. Business records that belong to an organization (e.g. closed work orders) may be retained by that organization after you leave it, with your personal identifiers removed.
6. Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account from within the app: Account → Delete account. This removes your profile and personal data (certifications, specialties, refrigerant logs, PM checklists, intro requests) and signs you out. Organization business records are retained with your personal identifiers unlinked, as described above. To request deletion by email instead, contact us at kaustubhdeshpande@me.com.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is controlled by row-level security so that users and organizations can only reach their own data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. Children
MasterTech is a professional tool intended for users 17 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can do most of this in-app, or contact us at kaustubhdeshpande@me.com.
10. Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in-app.
